On Friday 22 August, our North Shore centres celebrated our annual Family Night. We invited our families to come and join us for a night of fun! All of our children joined together to perform an awesome concert with songs, scriptures, and the four year olds shared the phonics that they had been learning. After the concert our families enjoyed a party in the cafe. The cafe looked amazing decorated with balloons and bunting flags and everyone loved the party atmosphere with bouncy castles, goody bags, face painting, balloon animals,  popcorn, cupcakes, and even a candy bar! Thank you so much to everyone who came along and was involved in the evening. The night was a huge success, and we can’t wait for you all to join us again next year!

City Impact Church Care and Education Celebrates 13 Years!

City Impact Church Care & Education

City Impact Church Care and Education Centre celebrates its 13th birthday this month and their commitment to serving children and families in their community is as strong as ever.

“We have always been passionate about providing a nurturing and loving environment where children can grow and flourish,” says Centre Manager Megan Erskine. “While we have grown and expanded over the years, our strong family focus remains the same.”

City Impact’s Childcare Centre started in 2000 with just five staff members and twenty eight children, forming the warm family atmosphere that characterises the centre today.

Now the Centre caters for a wide range of families with a full day care for children aged 0-5 as well as morning and afternoon sessions and other events and field trips. Their recent family night was a huge hit with bouncy castles, balloon animals, cupcakes and face painting.

The Centre employs a large number of fully qualified staff from a variety of countries including multi-lingual staff from South Africa, Korea and China. Their latest renovations include a specialist art room, dining room, and separate infant, toddler and pre-school rooms.

“We do everything we can to create a second home for children, including dinners cooked on site for those who need them,” says Megan.

The Centre’s ‘Transition to School’ programme has gone from strength to strength with the added bonus of City Impact Church School teachers on hand to help out. The specialised programme covers literacy, phonics, letter formation, numeracy and number recognition with the goal of giving children the best possible start to their school days.

“This is an exciting time in any child’s development and we love to make it special,” says Megan.

The Centre’s strong Christian emphasis and Biblical Curriculum sets it apart and drives the family feel.

“Part of what I love about our Centre is getting to know families on a personal level,” says Megan. “We have families who have been with us for years, as all the siblings come through our programmes,” she says.

Congratulations Teacher Fran! Winner of Most Inspiring Teacher of the Year!

A big congratulations goes out to our phenomenal Head Teacher Fran Bunting who just won New Zealand’s Most Inspiring Teacher of the Year!

Teacher Fran was nominated by a family within the centre for her enthusiasm, genuine love, encouragement and accommodation of their daughters heart condition. Teacher Fran oozes happiness, energy, kindness and creativity and passes this onto the children. Nothing is too much for Fran, a teacher whose day doesn’t finish at 5 when all the children have left, but carries on after hours as she attends birthday parties and makes her famous cakes for her kids.

We are so fortunate to have New Zealand’s Most Inspiring Teacher teaching at City Impact Church Childcare and we also love Teacher Fran to bits! Well done Fran!

Our Up to 2’s are loving their new playground!

Up to 2s article

Spring is here and the sun is out on cue! The up to two’s now have their own playground and are loving their very own space. The children have been having a blast climbing the playground, getting into outdoor painting, water play and playing in their very own new sandpit! It has been awesome making ‘confidence courses’ outside to challenge the children, which of course our very capable children rise to! We have been having such a blast outside and we can’t wait for summer to come so that we can get our togs out and have fun in the water!
