Our Balclutha Childcare Centre is part of the City Impact Church Location, right in the heart of Balclutha. Our centre is light, bright and spacious and caters for all different ages and stages with areas and activities that have each child in mind.
Our qualified staff ensure all children are in a safe and loving environment where they can flourish. Grounded in Christian values, we are committed to creating a place where every child and family feels respected, supported and welcomed. We warmly welcome all families and seek to build a community where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
Our tailored curriculum is designed to create learning experiences and opportunities to enhance the development of every child, so they can develop into their unique God-given identities and be bold in who they are.
One of the things families love about our centre is that everything is included in your daily fee. We provide nutritious morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, along with nappies and wipes, so there is no need to pack lunchboxes or bring supplies each day. It’s all part of our commitment to making childcare simple, convenient and stress-free for busy families, while ensuring children have everything they need throughout the day.
My kids have all loved coming here over the years and have thrived in the environment! Not just within the childcare but also within the church itself too! Providing the kids with knowledge in their faith and building strong relationships with their friends, teachers and God 😊 would highly recommend to other parents searching for a warm and welcoming centre for their children!!
The food is nutritious, the provision of nappies is convenient. The child updates on Storypark are something that I eagerly open to see photos and commentary that is so encouraging. The wonderful teachers are passionate about their work with each child, and it shows!
One of the things we have loved most is how they celebrate each child's milestones. They made his birthday so special, and seeing the excitement and joy on his face was something we'll always remember.
The team has also been an important part of his personal growth journey. They have partnered with us to help him develop confidence, independence, kindness, resilience, and emotional regulation. During some challenging phases, they responded with patience, understanding, and genuine care. Rather than seeing challenges as problems, they took the time to understand his needs, encourage him, and guide him with consistency and compassion. We truly believe their support has played a huge role in helping him grow into the confident, caring little boy he is becoming.
The teachers are warm, approachable, and always communicate with us openly. It's clear they genuinely care about every child and invest in helping them thrive, not only academically but emotionally and socially as well.
Thank you to the entire team at City Impact Childcare for everything you do. It gives us such peace of mind knowing our son is surrounded by people who love, encourage, and believe in him every day. Beks Ware
Centre Manager
Kia ora, I’m Beks, Centre Manager at City Impact Church Childcare in Balclutha.
My husband and I, along with our four kids, have called Southland and South Otago home for over 20 years. I’ve spent the past decade teaching in a range of early childhood centres. I’m passionate about creating a nurturing, faith-filled environment where tamariki are encouraged to grow into the individuals God created them to be. Building strong, trusting relationships with tamariki, whānau, and kaiako is at the heart of what we do.
It’s a blessing to lead an amazing team as we share our Christian values and support every child’s journey through play, learning, and discovery.
Elmari van Schalkwyk

Hi, I’m Elmari van Schalkwyk, Administrator at City Impact Church Childcare in Balclutha.
City Impact Church has been a big part of my life for over 20 years, and it’s a blessing to now serve the families in our Childcare Community. My husband and I raised our three daughters here, and I’ve seen how vital it is to surround children with love, stability, and Godly values.
Before moving to Balclutha, I worked at City Impact Church Childcare in Auckland and later at Playcentre Aotearoa in Otago – Both roles have given me valuable insights into childcare, community, and how to create environments that honour families and help them thrive.
I love being part of the team behind the scenes. This isn’t just a job for me – it’s a calling, and I’m grateful to be walking it out in a community I love.
Christine Carroll

Hello, I am Christine Carroll and I have been teaching for 7 years at many different levels within the education sector.
I have a passion to support the team and see them grow from strength to strength. Transition to school is also one of my strengths where I want each child to learn about their God given identities and know how much they are loved. It is my absolute pleasure to be working with the tamariki and whanau to support our learning journeys.

Kia ora, I am Olivia! I am blessed to be a member of the team here at City Impact Church Childcare in Balclutha, from the beginning of my teaching journey in 2019.
Here is where I have found my passion for providing each unique learner with a rich learning environment where they can learn, grow and develop at their own pace, through their own ways of knowing, being and doing. I am passionate about demonstrating whanaungatanga and building trusting, reciprocal relationships with tamariki, whanau and my colleagues. I admire the vision and values of our Christian philosophy and how they intertwine so beautifully through our practice and programme here at City Impact Church Childcare Balclutha.
